Detailed Description
QPD Panel is an acronym for Quick PsychoDiagnostics Panel™.
The QPD Panel™ is a psychiatric “lab test” that
allows physicians to diagnose nine common psychiatric disorders.
Patients self-administer the test in six minutes using specially
designed hand-held computers. Physicians receive a computer-generated
“lab report” that is printed on-site, immediately; the
report resembles a familiar blood chemistries report. The QPD detects
major depression, dysthymic disorder, bipolar disorder, generalized
anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder,
alcohol and substance abuse, bulimia nervosa, somatization, and
suicide risk.
Physicians receive a chart-ready “lab report” with
a familiar look and feel, resembling a standard blood chemistries
report. The report provides 1) specific DSM-IV diagnoses with
diagnosis codes, 2) numeric scores that indicate the severity
of the symptoms (e.g., depression and anxiety scores), and 3)
a list of the symptoms leading to the diagnosis.
The QPD Panel has been validated against the SCID structured
psychiatric interview, widely considered the “gold standard”
for psychiatric diagnosis. Sensitivity and specificity are excellent.
The QPD Panel has proven effective in some of the busiest primary
care offices and clinics in the U.S. In a formal physician satisfaction
survey, between 95% and 100% of primary care physicians “agreed”
or “strongly agreed” that the QPD Panel is 1) convenient
and easy to use, 2) integrates easily into primary care practice,
3) can be used immediately by any physician with no special training,
4) presents results in a clear, easy-to-understand format, and
5) helps provide better patient care.”
The QPD Panel is also well-accepted by patients. In a formal patient
satisfaction survey, nearly 100% of patients agreed that 1) the
QPD Panel was easy to use, 2) the questions were clear and easy
to understand, and 3) the QPD Panel asks about things that are
important for my doctor to know.
The QPD Panel screens for ten specific DSM-IV psychiatric disorders
and provides seven scales that measure symptom severity and change.
The test also screens for suicide risk and domestic abuse.

The QPD Panel may be administered to all new or established patients

QPD Panel is sensitive to change over time. It may be re-administered
as often as desired to assess treatment outcomes or monitor changes
in patient status.
